COURSE PROGRESS
Week 1:
T: Went over the syllabus, introduced systems of linear equations, gave examples of solving systems of linear equations.
Th: More examples of solving systems of linear equations (3x3 etc): the method is Gaussian elimination; defined augmented matrix and row-echelon form (REF); gave several examples of REF/non-REF.
Week 2:
T: Defined REF, RREF, gave algorithm for solving a system of linear equations (and worked through a complete example); Defined vectors, vector addition, scalar multiplication, vector equations and span; discussed how to figure out if a vector b is in the span of vectors v_1, ..., v_n
