Augustus Matthiessen

1831-1870

 

	He was a German chemist who with Bunsen prepared lithium for spectroscopic analysis by electrolyzing lithium chloride. He later was Professor of chemistry at St. Mary’s Hospital and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, England.
