In the area are the remains of some of the old buildings. There were two George Brandt's, father and son, who lived here. The father sold his pharmacy business in Stockholm in 1680 and purchased the property; the son (who was to discover cobalt) was born here and became a world traveler, eventually settling in Stockholm where he did his important chemical work, but frequently visiting the Herrgård where he maintained both a financial and scientific interest. The Brandts were very wealthy, producing copper for the king to help finance the nation's expansionist policies.
